Third-Party Apps Now Available in the Trimble Transport & Logistics Online Store
Trimble announced today that it has expanded its European mobile telematics solution by offering third-party applications on the FleetXPS tablet. Drivers now can access valuable work applications on a single platform and mobile device. These third-party applications will be available to customers in the Trimble Transport & Logistics online store (Trimbletl Store).
In addition, Trimble also announced that it has redesigned its FleetXPS app for Android’s smartphone user interface for the FleetXPS tablet interface. This creates a more unified work environment for users, regardless of the platform. Trimble demonstrated its connections to third-party applications and the redesigned FleetXPS app at Logimat in Stuttgart.
“Many carriers and logistics companies are resorting to multiple devices to access the abundance of mobile solutions,” said Lutz Siegert, country manager, Trimble Transport & Logistics, Germany. “With the FleetXPS tablet and Trimbletl Store, we can provide companies a more uniform telematics platform to manage apps available to drivers."
Attendees at Logimat enjoyed live demonstrations of several apps offered in the store, including Absence Planner, which allows drivers to electronically submit leave requests using their tablet; and ContiConnect Driver, developed by tire manufacturer Continental, to measure tire pressure and temperature and alert the driver to any issues.
"The condition of the tires plays a major role in driving safety and comfort and is a key concern for our customers," said Siegert.
“Also the integration of e-CMR applications is already available. That's why Trimble works with partners such as Transfollow, Pionira and Dashdoc. Applications installed on the FleetXPS tablet are secured and controlled primarily by Trimble and transport companies. Drivers can not independently reject updates or delete apps.”
Logimat attendees had the opportunity to view advanced telematics solutions, such as the CarCube and Truck4U onboard computers and Performance Portal, which analyzes driving habits. Demonstrations of tachoarchiving and salary calculation solutions were also available.
